DEARBORN HEIGHTS, Mich. (WJBK) -

A 20-year-old man is accused of causing a crash and careening into a home. He blames a faulty luxury car.

A two-year-old girl suffered a small cut on her head and some abrasions, but she was not seriously injured. She was properly buckled into her child safety seat in her father's white Mercedes.

Josh Thompson told police the gas pedal on his Mercedes stuck to the floor.

We were told the Mercedes hit the intersection of Eton and Bayham at a high rate of speed. The vehicle ran a stop sign and smashed into a green Ford Explorer, then continued into the front of an unoccupied house on Eton near Venoy.

"The vehicle that ran the stop sign, the driver claims that his accelerator was stuck, and we do know from witnesses that his speed appeared to be greater than 25. Don't know how fast at this time. Got to do some more investigation," said Corporal Leonard Steward from Dearborn Heights police.

Thompson was arrested on scene after the crash for having a suspended license.

The Mercedes also had an adult passenger, who is Thompson's brother-in-law. He went to the hospital, but was not in life threatening condition.

There was a 20-year-old female driver in the Explorer. She was transported to the hospital and was conscience and talking as she left the scene.

Thompson's daughter appeared okay and happy. Her grandfather said he was on his way to bail his son out of jail.

"He said everything just happened so fast, that he just panicked, and he said he don't know exactly what happened or anything. He said that he was trying to unstick a gas pedal," Wayne Thompson said.

The homeowner will be notified by the city with a full report. There is significant damage to the home and its foundation, but a dollar estimate was not immediately available.
