Anaheim, CA -

(FOX 11 / CNS) Police today were seeking the public's help in locating a driver who left the scene after hitting and seriously injuring a teenage cyclist in Anaheim.

The accident was reported around 11:45 p.m. Wednesday in the 900 block of Harbor Boulevard south of La Palma Avenue, Officer John Roman told a news photographer at the scene.

The victim, a male of between 16 and 18 years old, suffered a major head injury and was taken to a hospital for treatment, Roman said. Video from the scene showed a bicycle with a bent front tire lying next to a puddle of blood in the street.

Harbor Boulevard was closed in both directions south of La Palma to accommodate the crash investigation, Roman said. Witness Angelina Lucero, who had just finished working a shift at
Disney's California Adventure theme park, told the photographer the cyclist was on the street motionless but still breathing when she came upon the crash scene.

Anyone with information that could help investigators track down the motorist who fled the scene was urged to contact Anaheim police (714) 765-1900.
