Concert Gift Headache For Local Family

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

A Bucks County mother, bought Rolling Stones tickets for her daughter and daughter's finance as an engagement gift.

It was going to be their last big show in Philly before a wedding and a move away.

But strict rules designed to keep scalpers away from the gig have them feeling left out of the show.

"This was like the last thing to do in our home town."

No satisfaction for Kristin Calciano of Fairless Hills.

She was looking forward to hearing five decades worth of hits at Tuesday night's Rolling Stones concert in South Philly.

"It's really been the only thing I had to look forward to until my wedding."

The tickets were an engagement gift to her and her fiance from her mom Ann. A farewell show before they begin a new life in Massachusetts.

"We're moving at the end of July. We're both attending grad school. All I've been worried about is moving, wedding, moving wedding."

Ann says she went to the band's website to buy a special set of fan appreciation tickets back in April.

"My understanding was that it was a surprise, that you didn't know where you were going to sit and you could be in the front row so I thought that would be great," said Ann.

She found trouble only days before the show when trying to see how she could pick the tickets up.

"We thought I could just go down there with my ID and pick up the tickets and they could go to the concert."

Instead she says ticket staffers told her only she could go into the show with a guest since she bought them with her card.

And that they could not be handed off as a gift.

"That really upset me that they're not going to be able to go together. It's their engagement present."

"They're just one of those bands that have been around for so long and it's just cool to me that they've influenced so much in this country just by music," said Kristin.

Tour officials released a statement backing up the rules saying quote:

"The terms are clearly stated when the tickets are purchased. It is done to keep scalpers out of the process."

The rules have left Kristin with mixed emotions.

"I'm not a scalper. I just want to see the Rolling Stones and so does my fiancé."
