New photos, video of Times Square bombing

NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

The FBI has released new video and photos related to the explosion outside the Times Square recruitment center in 2008.

On March 6, 2008, the bomber rode a blue Ross bicycle to the U.S. Armed Forces Recruiting Station, placed a device commonly found in Iraq and Afghanistan outside the station, lit a fuse and took off on the bike, said police.

No one was injured in the explosion.  The bomb could have caused significant casualties if anyone had been near it, said police.

The bike was later recovered near Madison Avenue and 38th Street.

Law enforcement is offering a reward of up to $65,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the suspect and others who may have assisted the bike bomber.

On Tuesday, surveillance video of the suspect and photos of the explosive and bike were released by the FBI.

“Someone, somewhere, knows something about a bomber who’s still on the run,” said FBI Assistant Director-in-Charge George Venizelos. “Today we’re asking for the public’s assistance in finding those responsible and encouraging the public to look closely at these photos and video, which could be the key to breaking the case.”

As many as five people may have served as lookouts for the bike bomber, said police.

Anyone with information that could help law enforcement crack the case is encouraged to contact the FBI at 212-384-1000. Tipsters may remain anonymous.
