After 15 years of marriage, Tiffany Beverlin found herself staring divorce in the face. The ugly reality caused plenty of nightmares. But she also had one dream that ultimately came true.
For Beverlin, the pain of divorce was short-lived, when she realized that she wasn't alone.
"Almost 47,000 people a week get divorced in America, so I thought there must be a market for this."
At first, the long-time stay-at-home mom panicked.
"When I very first thought about getting divorced, I had no idea it would be so difficult to re-enter the workforce," she said. "It turned out to be a lot more challenging than I thought it would be."
So,out of desperation, she tapped into her creativity.
"So, I invented the job that I wanted by starting my own company!"
Less than a year after her divorce, DreamsRecycled.com was born. In March, the website launched as an online marketplace, selling items related to one-time dreams: wedding dresses, wedding rings, wedding decor, wedding gifts, and much more.
"I emptied my closet, I emptied my friends' closets ."
She started small, but now she says interest is growing. Signing up is simple. Register your profile, list your items, and even participate in the chat rooms to connect with other women, and men.
"It's been a nice surprise. We've been able to take the lemons and make the lemonade."
Beverlin said the idea came to her in a dream.
"Somewhere during my dream, I had an epiphany that I could sell my ring and the rings of other people on my website."
This divorced diva says she has surely learned that letting go never felt so good.
