PONCE INLET, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -

Ponce Inlet police officers have arrested a man they are calling a suspect in an assault which happened at the Harbour Village Links Golf Course over the weekend.

David Barror, 43, was arrested at his home in the golf community around 3 p.m. Tuesday and charged with aggravated battery. Barror has bonded out of the Volusia County Jail.

Officers said they were able to make an arrest based on witness statements and that Barror was cooperative.

According to a police report, Richard Fillingame, 63, was seriously injured during the altercation at the golf course, near the 4600 block of South Atlantic Avenue, just before 5 p.m. Saturday.

"The man on top was literally pummeling the man on the ground," witness Gail Barton said. "He was just beating him. He was really beating him with a vengeance. It was a terrible thing."

Police said Fillingame was badly injured on the face and around his head. He remains at Halifax Health Medical Center.
