Four hours after a parole search turned into a gun fight between the parolee
and a probation officer and LAPD, the suspect was still holed up inside the
Police officers surrounded the house, while a police helicopter
circled around and around with a spotlight focused right on the house.
11 o'clock, police still hadn't made contact with the suspect, Commander Andy
Smith saying, time was in their side and they could wait him out before
considering any kind of SWAT action. Meantime, the LAPD officer who was
shot in the face was taken into surgery. At 11 pm, he was in critical
Eastbound lanes of 105 closed between 110 and Central Avenue. These are the third and fourth officers shot today; earlier this morning two officers were wounded in a shooting outside police station.
