Three people have been arrested and charged with aggravated manslaughter, including a father and two kids.
Detectives say they did the unthinkable, severely neglecting their mother. They are all expected to make their first appearance Thursday morning.
In the meantime, detectives are still searching for the brother, who could face charges as well.
Hillsborough deputies were called out to the home of 65-year-old Mary Winston last November, when the woman died inside her home.
She suffered from severe rheumatoid arthritis for three years and was bedridden - needing help from her husband and kids. When deputies arrived at the house, they knew instantly something was wrong.
Winston was found covered in bed sores - some so bad that maggots were living inside the wounds while she was still alive.
"She was totally bedridden and on total dependence of her husband and adult children," Larry McKinnon with the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said. "When she actually died, the sheets were melded into her skin and her legs had fused together."
The medical examiner also found one sore so severe that the back of her rib cage was completely exposed.
Neighbors said they were shocked by the news.
"Family was there every weekend, kids were playing. They all seemed so happy. It's just a shock to the whole neighborhood because we all stick together and if anyone needs anything, all they have to do is ask. It's crazy," said Anna McWhorter.
Winston's husband, Osmond, and two daughters, Belinda and Hyacinth, were arrested Wednesday.
The family is telling detectives they were doing the best they can - but say they were overwhelmed.
A warrant has also been issued for Winston's son. He's believed to be out of state.
