Kissimmee police officers are needing the public's assistance in solving a murder case. Stacie Miller with the Kissimmee Police Department said a call was received at 6 a.m. reporting an incident at 2275 Central Avenue, right across the street from the Kissimmee Surgical Center.
"We got a call that there was a victim lying on the side of the road. Our caller, our 911 caller, said that he saw a car and heard a gunshot, and then saw the victim lying on the side of the road."
In the 911 call, the man twice mentions a car going by as he heard a gunshot, but Miller said they know little about that car.
"At this point, we don't know if that vehicle was even associated with it. We have no description of the vehicle, no tag numbers, no nothing."
The victim, identified as 17-year-old David Stiven Guerrero, was walking down Central Avenue toward Columbia to catch a bus to go to his summer job, when someone shot him in the abdomen.
Guerrero was taken to Florida Hospita and rushed into surgery, but he he later died.
Investigators spent hours this afternoon searching the scene for clues and knocking on doors of nearby homes. Police need leads, because the person who fired the shot that killed this teen is still on the loose.
"If you were out and about at 6 and saw any suspicious activity, call us," Miller said.
Anyone with information on the case is asked to call Kissimmee Police at 407-847-0176, or Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS (8477).
