Posted: Updated:

The Bicycle Wildfire broke out over the weekend near the town of Rye, which is about 20 minutes south of Payson.

It started on an all-bike property, which is a motorcycle junk yard, and quickly burned through two acres.

The Red Cross set up a shelter at Payson High SChool for people who were evacuated from their homes.

Five mobile homes and a shed were destroyed in the fire.

Evacuees remain hopeful that they will be able to return to their homes soon.

The fire has been contained.

Meanwhile, high winds are working against crews battling a fire near Kingman.

The Dean Peak Wildfire was sparked by lightning and continues to burn on the east side of the Hualapai Mountains.

The smoke from the fire is visible from Highway 93.
