INKSTER, Mich. (WJBK) -

The Inkster school district is in financial distress and now under the microscope. The governor has signed legislation to allow such school districts to be dissolved.

Governor Rick Snyder said on Tuesday that the state's treasury and education departments will determine what happens next.

"There's no foregone conclusion. They have to do their work, and there has to be a determination that they should be dissolved after going through a process," Snyder said.

It is a process that will be expedited.

"We're talking days not months," Snyder said.

Snyder also announced the state is appointing a review team for the Pontiac school district and working on early warning systems to identify other struggling districts.
