A man was shot in the leg early Wednesday in the latest in a string of unexplained shootings in Osceola County, and the shooting is not random, investigators say.
Daniel Marrero, 22, was shot just after midnight as he entered his home on Jessa Drive in Kissimmee. He and possibly the two other people who live there, including a young child, were targeted, Kissimmee Police say.
"This was not a random shooting. One or more individuals inside the residence were targeted," Kissimmee Police spokeswoman Stacie Miller said.
Police are searching for at least two black men all dressed in black in connection with the shooting of Marrero, in stable condition at a hospital.
Wednesday's shooting is the latest in a rash of shootings in the county.
One week ago, 17-year-old David Guerrero was walking to a bus stop to go to work when he was fatally shot.
Kissimmee Chief Lee Massie said Tuesday that Christian Roszkowski, 33, is a person of interest in Guerrero's killing. Roszkowski is charged in a previously unannounced shooting at Kissimmee's Sun Club Apartments.
In all, 11 homes have been hit by bullets in Osceola in recent weeks. The Guerrero case is the only incident in which anyone was hurt. Authorities in Kissimmee, St. Cloud and county deputies are all investigating.
"What we're telling residents and reiterating what the chief and Sheriff said yesterday is that we need everyone to stay vigilant. If they see anything suspicious, they need to call law enforcement immediately," Miller said.
