Two UCF entrepreneurs cook up 'Midknight Munchies'

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -

Two University of Central Florida students are cooking up a big business.

With a dash of hard work and a pinch of creativity, Allen Adzima, 22, and Matthew Anderson, 21, mixed up a successful business. The UCF seniors created "Midknight Munchies" in March.

"Everyone gets the munchies," said Adzima. "I remember being a little boy and she would make chocolate chip cookies. They were so good. That's when I fell in love with cookies."

The two marketing majors work seven days a week.

"Our finals week of spring session, we were open every night," said Anderson.

"It's definitely been a learning experience," said Adzima. "Teaches you to manage your time and everything that you do."

The idea was cooked up by a similar business on another college campus. Allen and Adzima are looking to take a bite out of the food industry.

They have nine flavors of cookies: chocolate chip, white chocolate, triple chocolate, sugar, peanut butter, snicker doodle, M&M, kat daddy, and cookie brownie. They also sell three types of brownies.

The business owners say their classmates love chocolate chip cookies, adding they sell three times as many of those cookies than the others.

"We have a lot of customer loyalty," said  Allen. "There's been people that have ordered almost every single night since we've been open, which is mind-boggling to me."

Anderson and Adzima bake the cookies in a shared bakery in Oviedo. They then pack them, wrap them, and drive the goodies to UCF.  Their drivers drop off the orders at students' dorms.  They aim to fill an around in around 45 minutes or less. It all depends on demand and traffic.

Each cookie is .99 cents. There's also a $5 minimum, and a $1.75 delivery charge. Customers can also order milk.

The young entrepreneurs said their cookies are bringing in the dough, but add all the money earned is put right back into the company cookie jar. They're already thinking ahead and hoping to franchise the business someday.

Besides, graduation is just a year away, and they plan to build an empire that's sweet enough to eat.
