Deputies: Aunt told 9-year-old nephew to steal purse

Posted: Updated:
BRANDON (FOX 13) -

Women often leave their purses unattended. It's nearly impossible to have your hands on it at all times – especially at group events, like birthday parties.

So when a 9-year-old boy's aunt asked him to grab a purse while at Chuck E. Cheese's, he didn't think anything of it, deputies said. He just assumed it was hers.

But deputies say his aunt used him to steal someone else's purse.

It was all caught on surveillance video at the location on Brandon Boulevard on June 25.

Deputies say 26-year-old Jasmine Johnson and 24-year-old Chantel Jenkins were at a birthday party for their nephew. They say the women told the little boy to get a purse that was sitting on a counter, so he did.

That purse, however, did not belong to either of them. The boy is not in trouble.

Deputies are looking for Johnson and Jenkins.
