MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) -

Minneapolis police are asking the public to help them identify the suspect in a hit-and-run that killed a 24-year-old bicyclist.

According to police, the crash occurred at the intersection of 28th and Pleasant Avenue South on Wednesday at 10:30 p.m. Jessica Hanson, 24, was riding her bike to her boyfriend's home when a vehicle that was speeding north on Pleasant Avenue without its headlights on ran through a stop sign and struck her.

Police say the vehicle fled the scene after the crash.

Hanson was immediately taken to HCMC; however, she died of her injuries on Friday. Officials say she was not wearing a helmet.

Relatives, friends and neighbors in the Uptown area where Hanson worked are asking the driver to surrender to police.

Officials have limited information about the suspect's vehicle, but are asking anyone with information to call 612-692-TIPS (8477) with reference to case number 13-212732.

Hanson was originally from Hoffman, Minn. The signature logo visible on the water tower was designed by her.

She graduated from West Central Area High School in 2007 before moving to Minneapolis to pursue a career in photography. Hanson accepted a position with LifeTouch Portrait Studios and, more recently, worked at Republic in Uptown.

Visitation services will be held at Zion Lutheran Church in Hoffman on Wednesday at 4 p.m. Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. on Thursday at the church.
