Thieves rob ATM at BP station in metro area

ATLANTA -

Atlanta police discovered an ATM break-in while responding to a triggered alarm at the BP service station in the 1600 block of Ponce de Leon Avenue.
 
Police aren't certain just how much money was taken from the ATM.

Reportedly the break-in happened before 5 a.m. Monday. Police at the scene report first noticing the front door of the service station's market area was slightly open and that the lock had been broken. Officers also saw parts from the BP's ATM were broken and on the ground just outside of the front door.

Police report not noticing anything else that seemed out of police or broken at the service station.

A security guard working across the street told officers that he saw a red GMC or Chevrolet truck with extended cab speed away from the BP station about 4:30 a.m.

Police are reviewing security surveillance video from the BP station.

The incident remains under investigation.
