Police have arrested the suspect who they say shot three people, including two children, after he vomited on the victim's dog.

22-year-old Anthony Jamar Houston was arrested on Wednesday night.

According to officers, it started with a fight between Houston and a neighbor at an apartment complex near 32nd Street and Thomas.

It was just after 9:30 p.m. Tuesday night when people living in the Casa Mia Apartments heard gunshots pierce the evening air.

"Rapid shots.. bam bam bam bam.. six. They weren't fire cracker sounds either," said Jackie Kirk.

Lavon Moore, who lives in the complex, added, "Yeah, I was laying there watching television -- and I heard six shots. And I got up, came outside to see what was going on -- and to see if there was anybody hurt."

Police rushed to the scene to find three people shot.  A 41-year-old man and his two children -- a 14-year-old girl and 9-year-old boy -- all were in their apartment at the time.

People who live here say this all started when that victim was out walking his dog. Houston was on the second story balcony, then leaned over -- and threw up on that dog.

The two started arguing and the older man eventually tried to go back into his apartment.  According to police, that's when Houston started shooting at the man, hitting him and his children.

As the victim tried to duck into his apartment, police say Houston pulled out a gun and shot him and his children.

Houston immediately took off running from the scene.

Police believe the victim may have actually seen the gun.

"It appears that he may have actually seen that the suspect had a weapon because something motivated him to get inside of that apartment as quickly as possible when the suspect started walking along the landing," said Phoenix Police spokesperson James Holmes.

The two kids were taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries and were later released.

The older man was taken to a hospital and is listed in stable condition.

"The little boy that they brought out -- he didn't even look -- he looked lifeless. I thought he didn't make it. But they told me that he is okay, so.." said Samuel Whitney, who lives in the complex.

Moore knows the children well.

"Good kids? Yeah I love 'em. They love me too. Yeah, they said they would be alright, they're not in now serious danger. So that's a good thing," he said.

Police say the neighbors already had a history of fighting.

Houston was booked and faces charges of three counts of aggravated assault, three counts of endangerment, prohibited possessor and discharging a firearm at a residence.
