Son arrested charged with setting house on fire

Posted: Updated:
ATLANTA -

A man accused of setting his parents' home on fire is behind bars Wednesday afternoon.

Twenty-two-year-old Brandon Middleton has been on the run since last week, when investigators say he had a fight with parents and then left the house.

Officers say Middleton was upset when he left the home in the 1800 block of Greystone Road, but later returned. It was then that, police say, he kicked in the front door and set fire to his parents' home.

Atlanta fire officials say that although crews quickly put out the flames, the rear of the house, including the kitchen and back door, sustained quite a bit of fire-related damage.

The man's father cut his hand during a struggle after his son returned to the home and was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital for medical attention.

No one else was hurt, but police say the son will face several charges.
