It was an anonymous call that sent a deputy to an Ormond Beach home on Avenue J on Wednesday to investigate a report that a toddler had been left home alone and unattended by adults.
According to a Sheriff's Office report, Chyanne Messer and her boyfriend, Daniel Voisard, admitted to going shopping and leaving the little girl by herself for more than two hours.
A responding deputy knocked on the door. When no one answered, he looked in the windows and saw the 22-month-old child inside. The house was locked up, so he got a screwdriver and opened one of the doors and got the little girl out, deputies said.
Messer told deputies she thought leaving would be OK to leave her daughter alone, because she was sleeping. She said she didn't mean to be gone for so long.
Deputies said they also found marijuana inside the home within reach of the girl. The girl was removed from the home by the Florida Department of Children and Families.
