Mother of 4 robbed in apartment complex parking lot

Posted: Updated:
CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. -

A young mother of four said that she's in a bind after being robbed at gunpoint in broad daylight.

Rachel Morris said that she only think of her children as she stared down the barrel of a gun in the parking lot of her Clayton County apartment complex.

"I had my purse on my shoulder and I started to hesitate and then he raised the gun up further and I gave him my purse," Rachel said.

Morris said that she believes her robbers followed her home after seeing her cash a check at a local business.

She had $1,300 in cash on her at the time. The money came from Layla's Social Security check. Her triplets – Fallyn, Lauryn and Layla – were born premature, weighing less than 2.5 pounds.

While they are getting stronger, the 4-month-old babies are still having some health problems; Layla just had heart surgery. All three are disabled and receive Social Security.  The stolen money was from Layla's check. The family depends on that money to care for their little ones.

"Diapers and clothes and all the things you need for babies," Morris said. .

The Morris' say they're angry and scared and want these men caught.

"Somebody that brazen, to do that at 2 in the afternoon with an apartment full of neighbors -- there's no telling what he will do," Rachel said.

In addition to the cash, Rachel's purse also had her identification, insurance cards and her only set of car keys.
