Body Found In Manhattan Beach Park

(FOX 11 / CNS) A body found in a conservation center at Polliwog Park in Manhattan Beach appears to be that of a young Hispanic male, a coroner's investigator said today.

"City workers were moving a dirt pile when a suspiciously wrapped object appeared,'' Deputy Kim Manatt of the Sheriff's Headquarters Bureau said. "They summoned Manhattan Beach Police Department officers, who determined the object to be a human body.''

The death was reported at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Manatt said. Sheriff's homicide detectives were sent to assist with the investigation. Investigators said the body appears to be that of a young Hispanic male, said Lt. Larry Dietz of the Los Angeles County coroner's office. An autopsy would probably not be performed until Sunday at the earliest, Dietz said.

Authorities urged anyone with information regarding the body to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500.
