POLK COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -
A Polk County man whom deputies say vandalized a deputy's patrol car twice and left a note on his front door saying, "The Joker is here!" was arrested Friday.
Matthew James Lash, 22, of South Lakeland, faces multiple charges, including burglary, carrying a concealed weapon, theft and criminal mischief.
Polk deputies say Lash threw concrete blocks and landscaping rocks at the patrol car Tuesday morning, causing $1,129 worth of damage, and stole a Maglite flashlight from the car. Lash also broke out the windows of the deputy's personal pickup, they said.
On Friday, a man in the same neighborhood called to report that someone was trying to break into his home. The man said the suspect threw a landscape rock through a sliding glass door. When deputies came out, they found Lash in a street with a BB gun rifle and acting erratically, they said. He was ordered back to his home but came back out with a box cutter.
Lash admitted to the vandalism and burglaries, deputies said, saying he was drinking and got angry. He's being held in the Polk County Jail with no bond.
