Pope Francis Chooses Ford Focus, Shows Commitment To Humility

Posted: Updated:

Pope Francis has chosen to be driven in a comfortable, but modest Ford Focus.

Compared to predecessors, who chose Renault, Mercedes, and other luxury cars, Pope Francis is committed to religious austerity.

"If you like the fancy [car]," says Pope Francis. "Just think about how many children are dying of hunger in the world."

Pope Francis also chose to spend the summer in modest accommodations in Rome, instead of the luxurious retreat of Castel Gandolfo.

His efforts have influenced other members of the clergy. Using Pope Francis as a role model, a priest in Colombia announced plans to sell his Mercedes Benz E200 convertible.
