Bruce Springsteen Dedicates Song To Trayvon Martin During Show

Posted: Updated:
LIMERICK, Ireland -

After the verdict in the racially-charged trial for Trayvon Martin was announced, Bruce Springsteen took to the stage in Ireland and dedicated a song to him.

He played the song "American Skin (41 Shots)" Tuesday in Limerick during his show.

Fans were predicting that he would choose to play this song.

The Boss saw a fan in the crowd holding up a sign with the song title and decided to make it part of his set list.

"I want to send this one out as a letter back home," Springsteen said. "For justice for Trayvon Martin."

A verse of the song lyrics goes:

"Is it a gun? Is it a knife? Is it a wallet? This is your life/

It ain't no secret (It ain't no secret)/

No secret my friend/

You can get killed just for living/

In your American skin."

Bruce Springsteen originally wrote the song in 1999, after police in New York City shot to death Amadou Diallo, a 23-year-old immigrant from Guinea.

Springsteen opened and closed his performance in Limerick with the song "This Little Light of Mine."

    NICE EASTER WEEKEND

The first half of the holiday weekend has been great and Easter Sunday looks just as nice. Clouds thin out late tonight with temperatures falling back to the 40s.

Initially it'll be jacket weather early Sunday morning but plenty of sunshine will warm us into the 60s by afternoon.  High temperatures will be a few degrees cooler than Saturday.

It will be noticeably cooler and breezy at the shore with highs in the low 50s.  Quiet conditions continue into Monday.
