Kids Among 10 Hurt, 2 Critically, In AC Expressway Crash

WINSLOW TOWNSHIP, N.J. -

Ten people are injured, two critically, following a violent rollover crash Wednesday night on the Atlantic City Expressway.

New Jersey State Police say a minivan lost control and flipped over before 8 p.m. while heading westbound near mile-marker 39 in Winslow Township.

Seven people were thrown from the van, which was heading west. Others had to be extricated from the wreckage. Six of the injured are children.

The crash shutdown the expressway for several hours, as many watched in disbelief.

"The hood and roof are gone, and you can almost see the windows are smashed out," said Melissa Yarnes, of Sicklerville. "I have a 2-week-old and three boys at home, so it hits home. It's scary every time you go out on the road. You just have to be careful."

All of the injured are being treated at Cooper University Hospital in Camden.

One of the victims has been discharged.
