New York Giants safety Will Hill has been suspended by the NFL for four games after violating the leagues’ substance abuse policy, his second drug suspension in two years.

In 2012, Hill served a four-game suspension for violating the league's performance-enhancing substances policy after he said he took the attention deficit drug Adderall.

The 23-year-old will miss the Giants’ first four games and will be eligible to return to the active roster on September 30. His first game action could come on October 6 against Philadelphia.

Hill is eligible to participate in preseason practices and games despite the suspension.

Hill is the second Giants player to be suspended in 2013. Backup wide receiver Brandon Collins was also suspended for the first four games of the season last month for violating the leagues’ substance abuse policy

The Giants have their first camp practice next Saturday in East Rutherford, N.J.
