Arizona skateboarding phenoms to compete in X-Games

Posted: Updated:

They are only 12 but they are hugely successful at one of the coolest sports out there -- skateboarding.

Alana Smith is the youngest X-Games medalist and her friend Jagger Eaton holds a Guinness World Record.

We caught up with them -- where else -- ripping it up on the skateboard as they prepare for the next X-Games in LA in a week and a half.

They're only kids, but they are dominating professional skaters. Their accomplishments are proudly displayed on posters showcasing their X-Games achievements.

Alana Smith always wanted to skate, knowing she'd be good, but had to convince her parents.

"My mom brought me here. I kept begging and begging and begging for a board and I used a dirt bike before I started skating. So my mom was just, finally I'm going to get you a board, and let's at least see how you do," says Alana.

It obviously worked out. She rocked it in the Barcelona X-Games, and now will attend X-Games in LA August 1st.

"It was just an amazing contest and everybody from around the globe came and watched it. And competed in it," says 12-year-old Jagger Eaton, her friend and classmate at Kids That Rip School.

"I started when I was about 4 years old and I just loved it."

It didn't take long for Jagger Eaton to excel.

"About 9. I got my first sponsor and it was amazing."

Soon after that he started competing in X-Games, the Olympics of the sport.

"It's amazing I love being on the road and I love traveling. So being able to travel all over the world skating is amazing."

You can catch the competition and see all of Jagger and Alana's moves on ESPN starting August 1st.
