2 suspects at-large, clerk shot at Midtown Exxon station

Posted: Updated:

Two suspects remain at large after shooting a clerk at a service station on Ponce de Leon and Moreland avenues in metro Atlanta, according to the Atlanta Police Department.

Two men entered the market area of the Exxon station about 11:30 p.m. on Monday.

"It appears that at least two males entered the store. Some words were exchanged. At this point we can't determine exactly what it is," Atlanta Police Major Timothy Peek said.

Surveillance footage shows one of the suspects fiddling with a gun while the clerk tried to back away. The clerk then turned to run and was shot in the torso.

The two men fled the Exxon station on foot and may have gotten into a white sedan with tinted windows.

Customer Deborah Glasco arrived at the scene immediately after the shooting. She said she's a regular customer at the store and knows the victim. She saw him behind the counter and called for help.

"They said apply pressure, so I bent over, and I saw a white towel, doubled it four times," said Glasco.

The clerk, identified by police as 46-year-old Jack Alieu, was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital.

Major Peek said, "He was transported in serious but stable condition and we expect him, based on the doctor's words, we expect him to pull through and be fine."

Police say the suspects did not get away with any money. They say they will be reviewing footage from surveillance cameras both in and outside the service station to get more into on the suspects.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Atlanta Police Department.
