Overnight Storms Bring Traffic Problems, Power Outages

Posted: Updated:

Thunderstorms and heavy downpours made for some treacherous travel this morning as roads and highways flooded.

The heavy rain caused flash flooding around the region.

A Flash Flood Warning has expired for our area, but a Flash Flood Watch continues until 8 p.m. tonight.

CHECK: Latest Weather Warnings, Watches, Advisories

On the Admiral Wilson Boulevard overnight, cars were getting stuck in the flood waters as police tried to clear the road.

In Philadelphia, there was lots of thunder and lightning as the wet weather washed over the streets in Old City.

The mess on Spring Garden Street shows just how high the water got, with a biker struggling to get through it.

The storms also resulted in power outages. PECO, for example, says 36,000 customers were affected, and approximately 9,000 remained without power at 7:30 a.m.

Those overnight storms are finally rolling out of here, but we're keeping an eye on the lingering traffic troubles you need to be aware of as you head out the door.

FOX 29's Steve Keeley filed this report from rain-soaked South Jersey on Tuesday morning.

WATCH LIVE: 'Good Day Philadelphia,' 4:25 a.m.-10 a.m.
