CORCORAN, Minn. (KMSP) -

FOX 9 News has confirmed a 2-year-old boy died after being run over by a van in Corcoran, Minn., on Thursday night.

Officials confirm the crash occurred on the 7800 block of Maple Hill Road at about 6 p.m. in the residential portion of the Maple Hill Estates mobile home park.

Neighbors tell FOX 9 News the toddler was playing underneath a van and that family members thought he had gotten out of the area before the driver of the van began to move and ran over the boy's head.

Neighbors also said the driver of the van may be a relative of the victim; however, police have not released any information about the driver's identity.

Family members drove the victim to Maple Grove Hospital, where the child was pronounced dead, according to the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office.

Investigators do not believe alcohol was a factor in the crash at this time.

The investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
