Cartersville car dealer arrested

Posted: Updated:
CARTERSVILLE, Ga. -

Cartersville police say a car dealer wanted for allegedly taking money from investors and customers of his dealership has turned himself in.

Terry Michael Spruell, 64, is in the Bartow County Jail, facing theft by deception charges.

Investigators say he didn't make good on payments or titles for the vehicles.

Police tell us there were at least 10 victims, but they expect more to come forward.

One woman says her daughter is making payments on a car she can't even drive because she can't register the vehicle without a title.

Cartersville police say people who gave Spruell cars to sell held onto the titles after he sold the vehicles because he never paid them.

Police say some of his customers had their vehicles repossessed because the finance companies never received the titles.
