NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

Authorities pulled a woman's body from the Hudson River on Saturday near the spot where a bride-to-be was hurled into the water, along with her fiancé’s best man, when a speedboat carrying six friends crashed into a construction barge near the Tappan Zee Bridge.

The couple was set to be married in just two weeks at the very church they met as kids, but rather than prepare for a wedding -- the bride’s family is now preparing for her funeral

Lindsey Stewart's family was visibly distraught just moments after a rescue boat found the body in the Hudson River.

“She did all the plans herself, she was a real smart lady,” said Walter Kosik, Stewart’s stepfather.

Kosik and his wife Carol spoke to reporters Saturday.

On August 10th, Lindsey, 30, was set to marry 35-year-old Brian Bond at the Good Shepherd Church in Pearl River.

“They have been friends the whole time, and they fell in love about three and a half years ago,” said Walter Kosik.

Lindsey and Brian were among the six people riding in the speedboat. Lindsey and the best man, 30-year-old Mark Lennon, were ejected.

Lindsey worked in human resources and Brian is an art teacher in Westchester County. A family member tells Fox 5 that Brian was expected to go into surgery later Saturday.

Investigators have not confirmed the body pulled from the Hudson River is Lindsey Stewart's.

Public officials and safety advocates worry there will be more drivers high on pot and a big increase in traffic deaths as states liberalize marijuana laws. It's not clear, though, whether those concerns are merited. Researchers are divided on the question. Studies of marijuana's effects show the drug can slow decision-making, decrease peripheral vision and impede multitasking.

President Barack Obama is going on a fundraising sweep through New York and Rhode Island as he continues to help Democrats raise money for November's elections. Obama headlines three events on Friday. Two in Westchester County, and the third is in Newport, Rhode Island. The New York fundraisers will benefit the Democratic National Committee, which is still paying off debt from the 2012 campaign season.
