Recently acquitted murder suspect George Zimmerman was pulled over in a traffic stop on Sunday in Forney.
Zimmerman was stopped for speeding and during the stop he told officers he had a gun with him in his glove compartment, according to dash cam video obtained by FOX4.
The officer asked Zimmerman where he was going and Zimmerman responded "nowhere in particular."
When the officer asked why he responded that way, Zimmerman said, "You didn't see my name?" The officer, after a second, said, "Wow, what a coincidence."
Zimmerman was given a verbal warning by the officer for speeding and allowed to continue after a check to make sure there were no outstanding warrants.
The traffic stop occurred Sunday afternoon shortly before 1 p.m. on Highway 80 in Forney.
A local Forney news website broke the story, and seemed to go viral instantly.
"It took about five minutes and our website was down," Mathew Richards, inForney.com, said.
Richards says the public reaction has been at both extremes.
"People are welcoming him to Forney, people are 'why didn't he get a ticket', people are like 'please don't stop in Forney,' Richards said, "so we've got a mix of everything."
Zimmerman was found not guilty on charges of second degree murder and manslaughter on July 13 in the shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin during a 2012 confrontation.
In a statement about the incident, Zimmerman's legal team said, "For his safety, we won't make any comments about Zimmerman's whereabouts, and we will work to protect his privacy."
Zimmerman's brother, Robert Zimmerman, Jr., said in a statement, "Our family receives innumerable death threats on a daily basis. We all continue to take our security and privacy very seriously and go to great lengths to ensure our safety in accordance with the law. Despite the truth coming to light in a court of law, persistent circulation of misinformation and speculation continues to put us all at risk, especially George. Speculation as to any family members' whereabouts, either by the press, or by individuals is irresponsible and counterproductive."
