Local Residents React To Rainy Weather

People usually travel light and wear light clothes during the summer. But lately, we're seeing people bogged down with umbrellas, rain coats, and boots.

People in Rittenhouse are busy tonight. They couldn't let the rain keep them indoors much longer. It was another rainy day added to the wettest summer on record.

"I caught a lot of it this morning," says Rob Barker.

Rob Barker says it dried out just in time for him to catch a summer breeze and belt some tunes in the air. He serenaded his friend Christine Chu in the park. She says she's tired of carrying an umbrella around, but wouldn't think of putting it away.

"Whenever I don't bring it, it rains more," she says.

Elsewhere around Rittenhouse Square, outdoor restaurant seating was empty! An unusual sight on a summer night, especially near the start of the weekend.

"It's kind of muggy out tonight and rainy," says Margo Pridgen

We caught a few ladies leaving one restaurant and heading to another for girl time and martinis.

"It's nice to be out," they say.

They chose to sit inside because of the humidity left behind after the day's heavy rain. While many are sick of the rain, they say it's a nice trade off from the steamy days of the weeks past.

"I'll take the rain over the heat we had the past couple of weeks, so this is much better," says Debbie Williams.
