Golf tournament benefits victims of Yarnell Hill wildfire

Posted: Updated:

Surviving Granite Mountain Hotshot Brendan McDonough spoke at a golf tournament benefiting the victims of the Yarnell Hill wildfire Friday.

The tournament was held at the Gainey Ranch Golf Club.

McDonough, the lone survivor of his crew, thanked the crowd for supporting his fallen brothers.

"There's kind of a lot I'd like to say, but I just want to say thank you to every single person who's here today.. you've made a huge difference in these families' lives and the money you're putting forward to this is not gonna go to waste.  There's a lot of children.. unborn children.. it's gonna help a lot.  We can't bring them back, but we can remember them in an amazing way."

"The money that's been coming in for the families and everything like that.. to see the look on their faces and the help they're giving them is just priceless," said Capt. Dave Hutchison of the Prescott Fire Department.

Some of the proceeds raised will go to the 100 Club of Arizona, helping the victims of the deadly wildfire.
