3 Henry Co. schools on brief lockdown, 1st day of school

HENRY COUNTY, Ga. -

A potentially scary first day of school for students in Henry County.

School officials placed Eagle's Landing High School, Eagle's Landing Middle School and Flippen Elementary School on lockdown after reports of two gunmen connected to an off-campus, non-school related incident, according to spokesperson J.D. Hardin.

The three schools went on lockdown about 10 a.m. Monday. Hardin says school resource officers from the Henry County Sheriff's Department and other law enforcement officials quickly secured the area and apprehended the suspects.

Officials lifted the lockdown about 20 minutes later and parents were notified.

No students or staff were harmed, Hardin said.  All schools are operating normally and law enforcement remains in the area as a precaution.
