UFC Featherweight Standout Cub Swanson

Posted: Updated:

At a recent Resurrection Fighting Alliance event, Cage Talk host James Koh caught up with UFC featherweight standout Cub Swanson.

Swanson, who was there cornering his brother, said this of Conor McGregor: "he doesn't deserve to speak my name."

When a fan suggested on Twitter that McGregor should be matched against either Swanson or Dustin Poirer, Swanson responded by advising McGregor to not take the fight with Poirer, saying "He's too much for you."

McGregor shot back on Twitter saying "Wrong CUBBY!! You beat him and I beat you, DO THE MATH" adding "my fighting skills tell me you are 2 wide and he is 2 basic, you'd be lucky to escape the first."

FOX 11 spoke with Swanson about the exchange and about what fights could be next at 145 for him.

"Don't disrespect me like that," the long-time Palm Springs resident said.  "You speak my name, we will fight, but you got to earn it."

Swanson said fighting McGregor does nothing for his career and instead said he was interested in a trio of rematches.

"Of course I want my rematch with Aldo, we fought a long time ago and I'm a different fighter than I was then," Swanson said. "I feel like I've earned it.  Not a lot of people in the UFC have five wins with four knockouts."

"Frankie Edgar is a fight I would love to have," Swanson said.  "But it's either (Ricardo) Lamas or Edgar.  Lamas first because he's higher up on the ladder.  We fought already.  I was kicking the crap out of him and he caught me in a choke and my hats off to him but that's when I went on my tear."
