APOPKA, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -

A mother who disappeared with her son from Apopka were located late Thursday night in North Carolina.

Howard Darden, 11, was with his mother, 45-year-old Angela Darden, who had removed him from his school at 9:45 a.m. on Tuesday morning without his father's permission.

Darden was on GPS monitoring for an aggravated stalking incident involving the child's father. Within hours of taking the child from school, Darden cut off her ankle bracelet, authorities said. The equipment removal notified authorities and the child's father.

Both Darden and the child's father had obtained court orders in different jurisdictions, with each order granting full custody to the requesting parent. Darden was scheduled to appear at a hearing yesterday at 8:30 a.m. When she failed to appear, her custody of the child expired.

Darden and her son will be brought back to Seminole County.
