A woman who was found guilty in May for trying to hire a man to have her husband killed was sentenced to 10 years probation on Thursday morning.
A Volusia County judge had sentencing guidelines of 4 to 30 years in prison for the solicitation to first degree murder but chose to give Doreen Dufresne, 50, no prison time.
In court, the defense argued that Dufresne was heavily medicated at the time of the alleged plot to kill. Dufresne offered a man she knew of that had been in jail before on unknown charges $25,000 in March 2012 to kill her then-70-year-old husband.
According to prosecutors, Dufresne was upset that her ex-husband sold their home and didn't give her any money.
