It was a record-breaking weekend at the Movies. Box office sales topped $157 Million, the most ever. "One Direction" may be able to pack the biggest stadiums around the world but when it comes to box office sales, these hipster Brits couldn't budge Oprah from the number 1 spot. "The Butler" kept the top position for the third week in a row. One Direction's 3d documentary came in at number 2 followed by "The Millers" which is still going strong. Biggest flop? Selena Gomez's "Getaway" that made movie-goers stay away.
The highly anticipated "50 Shades of Grey" movie will be out next August. Today we learned Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson's daughter Dakota Johnson will play Anastasia Steele. "Sons of Anarchy" star Charlie Hunnam will play Christian Gray, the hotty billionaire who introduces Steele to kinky sex. Many fans of the book are balking at the choice of Hunnam claiming he's just not Christian Grey material. But it's hard to cast the role of every woman's fantasy. Let's just hope Dakota's parents don't visit the set.
Kanye West made a reported $3million over the weekend for one gig: the President of Kazakstan's grandson's wedding. New dad Kanye is probably hard up for cash. Why else would he perform for one of the world's most corrupt dictators? Because $3million is $3million no matter how many human rights violations.
