Forecasters at the National Hurricane Center in Miami are tracking a system near Puerto Rico in the Caribbean which has become Tropical Depression 7.
As of 5 p.m., the system had maximum sustained winds of 35 mph. A tropical storm warning has been issued for Puerto Rico and parts of the Dominican Republic.

Most reliable forecast models track the system northeast of the Bahamas and curving back out to sea over the weekend and into early next week, when it could strengthen over the open water.
Another system near Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula is also being monitored for potential development.
Should either system strengthen into a tropical storm, it would be named Gabrielle.
