Police Investigating 2 Main Line Carjackings

RADNOR, Pa. -

Radnor Police are working with Lower Merion Police to see if another carjacking in Bryn Mawr is related to the current one. This was an unfortunate welcome home for a woman who'd just moved back to Pennsylvania.

SEPTA's Villanova train station in Radnor is the scene of a startling crime.

"It's pretty bad, pretty scary for it to happen in this neighborhood," says Helise Weiss, a concerned resident.

Just before 8 p.m. on Tuesday night, police say that a woman, waiting in a black Porsche Cayenne, was carjacked while parked along the curb at the train station waiting for her husband.

Authorities say that the suspect was a man wearing a brown hoodie. He never showed a gun, but he jumped into the car and had a foul mouth.

"This individual opened the passenger side of the vehicle and yelled at her to get out immediately," describes Lieutenant Andrew Block of Radnor Police.

Police say that the woman complied, but instead of immediately racing away from her Cayenne, she showed amazing courage.

"She was fortunately able to turn around and come back to passenger side of car and retrieve her belongings," says Lt. Block.

"I think that's great," says one resident.

"She did a good job, what she did. She thought quick," remarks Weiss.

This is the second carjacking within a week on the Mainline. Last week, at the Beaumont Retirement Community in Bryn Mawr, a resident reported his car taken at gunpoint.

"We're looking into that. We haven't been able to tie them together, but they are in close proximity. Investigators are working together and comparing notes," says Block.

Fortunately, the victims in both situations were not hurt. Villanova police have stepped up patrols around this station since Tuesday's crime. Radnor police are looking for a black Porsche Cayenne with North Carolina license plates.
