Bashara in Court: Testimony from alleged drug dealer and hired hitman

Posted: Updated:

Witnesses testify against Robert (Bob) Bashara to determine if there's enough evidence to charge Bob for first-degree murder of his wife, Jane.

Tuesday the judge heard from Bob's alleged drug dealer, and the man authorities believe Bob hired to kill handyman Joe Gentz in prison.

Both men wore wires during certain conversations with Bob, unbeknownst to him.

Judge Kenneth King also heard from a woman who rented a flat to Gentz at the suggestion of Bob. She was worried when Gentz wasn't paying rent, and Gentz later told police that money was supposed to come from Bob once Gentz went through with the murder of Jane.

The landlady testified she got a strange call from Bob, in which he asked her to take Gentz's utilities off his name, and put them in hers. She says that phone call came while she was watching him being followed by police on the news.

Testimony resumes Wednesday morning.
