Redeye Bar and Grill in Ocoee is right on the money when it comes to food. But it wasn't always a brick and mortar restaurant. What is now a successful eatery began as a food truck.
"You know, if you have the right passion for it and a good recipe for success, as proven here, it's been a winner," says owner Rob Nelson.
Rob said he sold his food truck and moved to Hawaii.
"The food truck scene was completely different back then," he says.
He eventually ended up in Ocoee where he decided to give Redeye a full shot, opening a restaurant serving slow-cooked barbeque, award-winning chili, seafood and desert. So far, it's been a big hit.
"Sales have definitely increased. We've seen well over 20 percent growth from day one," Rob adds.
Enough of an increase to add a beer garden two months ago. But no need to worry. Nelson hasn't forgotten his roots. He still operates a food truck for special events, where he can server up to 500 people.
To what does he attribute his success?
"You have to have a good product at a fair price, a great location, and good service."
