After a heated exchange and four hours of discussion, the Orange County School Board approved the 2013-2014 budget.
Dozens of teachers and parents filled the board room at Orange County School District headquarters on Tuesday night. Many people waited two hours to address the board.
Orange County Classroom Teachers Association is asking for three-percent raises to offset the three-percent that was taken out in 2010 when Governor Scott required all state workers to start paying into their own pensions.
However, the School Board said that's not possible. The district told FOX35 there is money in the budget for raises, but it would be doled out based on teacher performance.
School board members are set to meet with the teacher's union on Thursday to hammer out salary negotiations.
