Boy Sends Letter To Santa, Asking For Help Stopping Bullying

Posted: Updated:

A mother who wanted to prepare early for Christmas receives a letter-to-Santa from her son that filled her with tears. In the letter, her 8-year-old son Ryan asks Santa to stop the bullying that his sister is receiving from classmates.

According to CNN, Amber, Ryan's twin sister, has been bullied at school because of her weight. In the letter to Santa, Ryan writes, "I wanted a remote control car and helicopter but I do not want that anymore. Kids at school are still picking on Amber and it is not fair because she does not do anything to them and it makes me mad."

According to mother Karen Suffern, she didn't know the extent of the bullying that her daughter was suffering. She tells CNN that this year is the first year that Ryan and Amber were in the same class, so Ryan got to witness, first-hand, all the teasing in gym class about Amber's weight and the rude comments about Amber's multiracial identity.

Ryan goes on to write, "I prayed they would stop, but God is busy and I need your help. Is it against the rules to give up gifts early? Can you ask Big Time Rush to come to Amber's birthday party? It will make her so happy. If you do not get them to come that is fine, just get her everything she asked for."

After seeing the letter, Karen sent it to Tony Posnanski. Tony is a famous blogger who used to weigh 420 pounds, but through diet, exercise and shear willpower, lost more than 200 pounds. The letter really touched him because, as he wrote in his CNN ireport, "I know what it is like to walk into school and wait for the people to make hurtful comments."

After submitting the story to CNN, CNN has done their own story and the letter from Ryan, the loving brother, has been seen by the sympathetic eyes of many.

Here's Ryan's full letter:

Dear Santa,

My mom said to send you a Christmas list. I wanted a remote control car and helicopter but I do not want that anymore. Kids at school are still picking on Amber and it is not fair because she does not do anything to them and it makes me mad. I prayed they would stop, but God is busy and I need your help. Is it against the rules to give up gifts early? Can you ask Big Time Rush to come to Amber's birthday party? It will make her so happy. If you do not get them to come that is fine, just get her everything she asked for.

Thanks Santa,

Love Ryan

PS- My mom throws the best birthday parties. You can come if you want.
