Man charged with murder as hate crime in Queens

The NYPD has charged a 22-year-old Bronx man with a hate crime in the stabbing death of a man found under an elevated subway line in Queens.

Steven Torres of the Bronx was charged with second-degree murder as a hate crime and criminal possession of a weapon.

Police say Torres allegedly attacked and stabbed 69-year-old Ever Orozco reportedly because he believed he was gay.  The vctim was stabbed in the throat and chest.

Orozco, a Queens resident, was taken to Elmhurt General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The incident occurred at Roosevelt Avenue and 90th Street in the Elmhurst section.  Plain clothes cops saw Torres running and tackled him.
