ATLANTA -

Little more than a week from today, the federal government is hoping that thousands of Georgians will begin shopping online for health insurance. It will be mandatory, starting next year.

The online insurance Marketplace, scheduled to launch on October 1, is set up to allow you to compare healthcare insurance costs and plans. Thus, you'll be able to pick the best one to fit your health needs and personal budget.

But, many people say they are confused about how all of this will exactly work. The FOX Medical Team's Beth Galvin is here to help you make a bit more sense of this!

The new healthcare law remains a hot-button issue from coast to coast. To better serve, Galvin is putting aside the politics and advising on thing from the start – ‘Don't panic.'

You have time. You don't need to do anything right now. If you already have Medicare or healthcare insurance through your employer, then you don't need to purchase new healthcare insurance. However, if you do need to buy the insurance, then let's get you started.

The website HealthCare.gov promises one-stop shopping for health insurance starting Oct. 1. But, how exactly do you know what to buy? Andy Miller, founder of politically independent GeorgiaHealthNews.org, says you should first look at how much your earn and what kind of coverage you need.

"What your health condition is, how many times you go to the doctor and where are you comfortable in terms of your deductible.  Do you want a high deductible or do you want a low deductible?," Miller said.

HealthCare.gov will offer four types of plans: bronze, silver, gold and platinum.

Miller said, "The bronze coverage is going to be the cheapest in terms of months, but it's also going to be higher in terms of your deductible and other out-of-pocket costs."

If you're healthy, rarely go to the doctor and don't mind paying more when you do, then go with a bronze or silver plan.
