Study Potentially Links Tattoo Toxins With Cancer

Posted: Updated:

Besides the chance from infections when tattooing, a new study by the Bradford University Centre For Skin Sciences shows that toxic ink in certain tattoo compounds may increase the risk of cancer.

The study showed that the body may actually metabolize the ink, and these byproducts end up in the lymph nodes, in the kidneys and in the spleen. They may also damage the connective tissue. The concern is that these could link to cancer.

But Dr. Mike emphasizes that tattoos have been around for a thousand years and the mechanisms for cancer is very complex, so he urges moderation and getting tattoos from reputable places.
