Sunland, CA - After his dog went missing, a Sunland man checked his home security tapes and discovered someone stole his dog right out of his backyard. He hopes the video of the suspect will help find his dog.
It's hard to believe a stranger could walk up to someone's home and steal a dog right out of the back yard. David Batchlor said this surveillance video shows exactly that: a man stealing his dog.
"I know is that I came home on Thursday to say hi to my little girl that meets me at the fence, and she wasn't there. And I panicked," said David.
"Girl" is his 2 year old rescue, David's had her since she was a pup. This is surveillance video Girl on the day she disappeared.
"I thought that oh my god I somehow made a mistake and my dog got out and it's my fault," David said.
But when he took a closer look at the security video, he realized there was a strange visitor that day. A man pulls right into David's driveway, walks up to the front door – even presses his face against the glass to look inside. You can see he then proceeds to wash his truck, like he owns the place. The problem is the homeowners have no idea who he is.
After the man brazenly washed his truck in the driveway for 45 minutes, he got into the back yard and the homeowners say he stole their dog.
"She's a mutt basically, but so pretty, and she's part pit bull, part it looks like part pug, and part boxer," David said.
In the video you can see a man leaving with the dog under his arm! You can see clearly see the dogs legs sticking out from behind, the man puts the dog in his truck and then drives off!
Girl's owner says, "I don't care how we get her back, as long as we get her back. "
David filed a police report and looked everywhere for his missing dog.
The truck the suspicious visitor was driving was a 2002 red Chevy S10 , with the plate # 8C87748
David hopes this video of the truck and suspect – will help him get his ‘Girl' back.
